DONNA MYERS
Program Director
OC’s Aloha House for Women

For Donna, OC’s Aloha House for Women was a quiet thought that changed into a leap of faith. It was a moment when her toes were hanging over the edge and she was afraid of falling but more fearful of taking that step back. That first leap of faith, and the subsequent rewards, laid the groundwork for opening a home specifically for women and their special needs.

Donna met her husband, Danny, in high school and has been married 40 years. Her career includes positions with Central Michigan University’s MSA extension program in Hawaii and Chapman University’s George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics. In between, she also finds time to manage their home based construction business. Her personal family history includes experiences many are all too familiar with – alcohol and drug addiction, dual diagnosis, learning disabilities, depression and abuse.
....
Donna says, “I believed that, with help, I could heal my childhood scars of incest - scars that I carried most of my adult life. Through all the twists and turns of this journey, I never came to a dead end, only a curve in the road. My life’s journey continues to include seemingly insurmountable challenges but also great joy and wonder. I hope women who may be filled with apprehension or fear will experience a joy filled curve in the road when they enter this house they can call their home."
....
Donna enjoys walks, the beach, traveling and her two West Highland Terriers who “manage” her office.

DANNY MYERS
Program Director
OC's Aloha House for Men

Danny opened the first OC’s Aloha House with the help of his wife, Donna. His journey of recovery has spanned over 18 years. During those years, he has experienced the critical importance of support during not only the initial phases of sobriety but during life’s ongoing daily challenges. Working in this field has many rewards, one of which is witnessing firsthand the accomplishments of residents as they join the family of alumni and begin their own life of sobriety.

Danny says, “Everyone deserves an opportunity to change their life. Working with the men affords me a way to give back to the community at large. Whether it is at our monthly house BBQ for alumni and newcomers or listening to the men sharing at our weekly house meetings, I am grateful for the opportunities to give back.”
....
Danny has been in the construction industry for over 25 years and has been married 40 years to his wife, Donna. He enjoys classic cars and is currently restoring a vintage trailer.
